Doing nothing will change nothing. Mind-blowing, I know.
ARE YOU STUCK? |
Are you tired of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Are you stuck in a daily cycle of pain, depression, or frustration that you can't seem to get out of? As much as you might doubt this statement right now... it IS possible to change! But how do I know that? Not only do I see changes take place in my clients on a regular basis, but I have personally experienced the process of moving from intense pain and significant struggle to putting in the hard work and big changes finally taking shape.

DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES
|
Don't give into the myth that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." This is a limiting belief and can hinder any progress you had the potential to make. The brain absolutely can change. In fact, your brain is always changing - it adapts itself to good and bad life experiences. We call this neuroplasticity. Although neuroplasticity usually helps us cope with problems, sometimes things go wrong, and the changes produced by neuroplasticity are harmful to the person. In therapy, we will work with the mind to build new pathways and new ways thinking which can eventually change your life! Keep in mind, therapy is not a quick fix, it's an unpacking process that sometimes takes time for everything to unfold and make sense. And yes, beginning the therapy process can hurt more before it feels better, but rest assured this is part of the healing journey (that most people tend to try and avoid).

GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO HOPE |
Maybe you feel like you've tried everything and still keep hitting that same brick wall and you don't see any other way out. I hear you, and I also have hope for you. Sometimes hope is all that is needed to make it through until tomorrow. Hope is what gives us the courage to change the things in our lives that desperately need to change. It may sound simplistic, but do you really have anything to lose at this point by seeing a counselor? Give a couple sessions a try and see what you think before you make a judgment call. It can be easy to justify a medical doctor for a medical issue that you can see with your eyes. Therapy is a little different, because the pain or issues you are having are internal. Don't let this stop you from seeking help for the depression or anxiety that is not visible to the eyes. Give yourself a chance!

WHAT EXACTLY IS THERAPY?
Therapy is not for the weak or faint of heart. When one decides to take back the reigns and get his or her mental and emotional life in order, it takes resolve and hard work. For most, healing and wellness is a process with ups and downs, forward and backward movement, but always keeping the goal in focus. Slow change is good change, and fast or quick change is usually temporary. Sometimes therapy will involve discussing the past, and sometimes it won't. Everyone is created unique, and with therapy there is no one same path to healing and wellness. If Rosebud Counseling is not a good fit for you, or we are unable to meet your unique needs with proper specialization, we are more than happy to provide referrals.
